Genocide is defined by the United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide as “any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such: killing members of the group; causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; [and] forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.”

something that i’ve noticed and kind of bothers me is that ever since i started college my circle of friends has been more guy-orientated whereas in every grade before i had a ton of girl friends.

i think its because at college i find a lot of the girls more intimidating/cool and the guys really….not….like the guys that i’m friends with are cool, but they’re also really dopey and act like middle schoolers so i just don’t care around them which makes me more open. but with girls i’m so intimidated and like “they know i’m a worthless ass!! they don’t want to be friends with me!!” either that or we just don’t click

anyways i would like to change this

The United Nations is an entity borne from the design of colonialist nations and constituted to support their imperialist hegemony. The U.N. is bullshit, it is one of the most systematic and awful human rights abusers in the world. International law is never enough; fuck the U.N.

Well, I don’t want to burst your bubble but as someone who works in the UN I would like to disagree. There are many extensions of the UN that are greeted towards true improvement of human rights around the world. I personally am working with UNRWA; United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinians in the near east; and it includes architects, engineers, social workers, project managers and many people focusing on managing a very difficult situation and one they can barely do anything if the people don’t want to improve. You blame these “higher powers” so often you victimize yourself. IF YOU KEEP VICTIMIZING YOURSELF AND JUST BLAMING HIGHER POWERS FOR YOUR INJUSTICES YOU WILL NEVER ACHIEVE GREATNESS.
Stop blaming America, the UN, Israel, White Power it’s so childish and it won’t help you in any way. Anyways, I for one promise from now on I will never use racism, sexism, or any form of injustice against my forms as an excuse of my failure.

Muhammad Iqbal of Pakistan was right when he said that the U.N. was “Dāshta‑i‑pīrak‑i‑Afrang” or “the keep of the West.” The U.N. serves to support the interests of those in power under the guise of human rights and global neutrality, a neutrality that in itself is misguided and useless because it falsely presumes nations and regions that have been aggressed upon for time immemorial to be equal to their aggressors and normalizes settler colonial states like America, Australia, Israel and Canada as wholly legitimate nations. The U.N. emerged from the League of Nations, which was founded by Allied Western powers like England and France who were directly colonizing and occupying a number of Asian and African countries. This organization thus has always worked to maintain and secure the hegemony of imperialist powers.

I am sorry (not really) to burst your bubble, but the U. N. is responsible for countless transgressions on human rights and institutionalized cruelty. UNICEF sanctioned medical experiments on Mizrahi/Middle Eastern Jewish Israeli children that killed more than 6,000 of them. U.N. peacekeepers in Bosnia and Kosovo, mobilized there because of imperialist NATO intervention, sexually trafficked and tortured Bosnian and Kosovar women and children who already confronted genocide from Serbs. U.N. peacekeepers and other employees could not be punished or prosecuted because they enjoyed diplomatic immunity and Kathryn Bolkovac, the whistleblower, was fired from her job for trying to expose the U. N.’s crimes.

Bosnia is not the only instance in which U.N. personnel have perpetrated sexual abuse and exploitation. In spite of heavy public condemnation from the U.N. of sexual abuse, women in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Haiti and South Sudan continue to suffer rape at the hands of peacekeeping soldiers mobilized, contracted and enabled by the U.N. Moreover, many civilian lives have been lost to U.N. peacekeeping missions in disparate parts of the world. In Somalia alone, Somali civilian deaths resulted from an aggressive military operation initiated by the U.N.

In Eritrea alone, the U.N. forced the country to become a federated part of Ethiopia, denied it sovereignty and facilitated a decades-long occupation. Eritrea won its independence approximately forty years later in 1991. The League of Nations facilitated the entire mandate system in the Middle East. It was the League, the U.N.’s precursor, that handed over Middle Eastern regions and territories to Britain and France under the deceptive guise of bringing democracy to backwards nations. This was only rhetoric to justify Western colonization of the Middle East. And as this article explains, linked by sharmooota , U.N. action served to partition Palestine in 1948 and triggered the expulsion and displacement of 700,000 Palestinians, which has inflated to a diaspora of millions and spans generations in the current day.

The U.N. is also responsible for sanctioning Eritrea on the flimsy basis that the government supports terrorists, and it’s been sanctioning Iran for the past few decades. Both of these countries are global southern and systemically poor and the sanctions only induce unemployment, exacerbation of poverty and migration/exodus (see how many Eritreans are dying trying to immigrate to Europe).

In short, the U.N. serves to protect and substantiate the imperialist and capitalist domination of those in power. Its purported neutrality only screens and distorts its human right violations and its role as the fulcrum for capitalism and imperialism.Lenin called the League of Nations “the den of thieves” and this appellation still applies to the U.N. Even now, there are numerous cases of rape, torture, murder, displacement, hunger, medical racism/experimentation caused by the U.N. that I am failing to cover, but I trust others will reblog this and add those cases. Fuck the U.N. and fuck you for supporting it.
